EDMOND — Members of RCB Bank management joined ambassadors of the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce in a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday afternoon for a new branch bank to be built on the northwest corner of Kelly Avenue and west Edmond Road.
“We want to be community oriented, but more importantly, we want long-term relationships,” said Jim Gray, branch president of RCB Bank in Edmond. “We want to know that customer and we want to know that customer’s family.”
Banking is a relationship business, Gray said. “We want them to be treated as friends,” he added.
The full-service RCB Bank provides all forms of lending that includes commercial, real estate, residential and retail lending, Gray said. The new RCB Bank location will have five drive-through teller lanes, an ATM, private offices and safe-deposit boxes.
“We think it’s a great location. Just being in Edmond in general is a great opportunity for us,” Gray said. “Great traffic counts on Kelly and Edmond Road. We wanted a corner and this seemed to be a good location for it.”
Roger Mosier, president and CEO of RCB Bank, said the bank is scheduled to open in May, provided that the weather cooperates with construction efforts.
There is already an RCB Bank on rented property that is less than a block south of the new Edmond Road and Kelly location. RCB Bank’s new location will be on property owned by RCB Bank.
Chamber President and CEO Ken Moore said the city has made an outstanding effort to work with business people like Gray. In turn, Gray said he plans to share with others his friendly working relationship with the City of Edmond.
The 6,312-square-foot bank will be on a 63,384-square-foot tract of land. It is part of a larger tract that is zoned for neighborhood commercial purposes, said Bob Schiermeyer, city planner. Two driveways will be shared with the remaining property, which has not been designated for development at this time, Schiermeyer said.
Architect Tom Tedrow said the traditional style building will have cast-stone accents and will be heavily landscaped. The bank’s landscaping plans exceed the city’s requirements, Schiermeyer added.
The brick veneer building’s roof will be 33 feet high at its tallest point. A brick clock tower measuring 32 feet in height above an ATM will be placed near the corner of the intersection. A sign is limited below the clock at 20 feet.
“It will be a beacon for this location,” Gray said.
There are 27 RCB Banks in Oklahoma, with the Edmond location being one of three sites in the Oklahoma City metroplex.
