OWASSO, OKLAHOMA -- RCB Bank and the Tri-County Blue Star Mothers have partnered to help make sure the men and women of our Armed Military Services are not forgotten this holiday season. During the month of November, RCB Bank is collecting donations to send to local active duty soldiers overseas for the holidays. Donations can be dropped off at any of RCB Bank’s Owasso, Collinsville or Skiatook locations.
“Travel size items - like shampoo, soap, deodorant, and mouthwash – are requested due to the size of the box we are using for individual packaging,” says Teresa Ward, TriCounty Blue Star Mothers President. “We kindly ask for non-aerosol items because the postal service does not allow shipping of aerosol sprays.”
Holiday collections help stock the shelves at the Tri-County Blue Star Mothers location and are used to fill up Freedom Boxes that are sent to local soldiers. A list of needed items can be picked up at RCB Bank’s Owasso, Collinsville or Skiatook locations.
The Tri-County Blue Star Mothers is a non-profit organization, which relies solely on the generosity of the community to continue to support our troops.
“These are our children, your friends, neighbors, and community members who have volunteered to place themselves in harm’s way for our freedom,” Ward said. “This is just a small gesture to make sure they know they are not forgotten and to show our support for the calling they have accepted.”
The Blue Star Mothers of America is an organization of mothers with children in active duty military service. If you know a soldier currently serving we want to hear from you. Provide a name, APO address and length of time they will be at the address and we will send them some much needed TLC from home.
